Blueprints: Save, Import and Share Factory Modules

Blueprints turn a working factory module into a repeatable build. Use them to preserve tested geometry, share designs as text strings and expand without rebuilding every Filter, belt and wall by eye.

Blueprint Workflow

  • Select the complete module, including walls, transport, Filters and utility connections.
  • Open the Blueprints tab and save the selection with a descriptive name.
  • Export when you need a shareable text string; import by pasting a compatible string.
  • The publisher-maintained Steam FAQ documents Ctrl+H for flipping a copied structure before placement.

What a Reusable Module Must Include

  • A clearly identified input and output.
  • Enough headroom for particles, Flowers or rising gas.
  • A path for every byproduct and unreacted material.
  • Access to repair Filters, Pumps and heat sources after placement.
  • A small test buffer before the module is connected to the main factory.

Import Safely

Blueprint strings are version-sensitive. Import into an empty test area, inspect Filter modes and directions, then run a small real batch before connecting bulk storage.

A blueprint proves that geometry can be copied; it does not prove throughput, ratios or long-term stability. Treat titles such as “high throughput” or “endless energy” as claims to test.

Community Blueprint Libraries

SandustryVault provides searchable community Sandprints for beginner machines, Steam engines, Flower farms and larger factories. Its Reddit announcement explains the copy/paste sharing flow.

Sorahn’s Sandustry Blueprint Tools can inspect, encode, decode and render blueprint strings. It is an unofficial diagnostic tool, so avoid uploading private or unreleased designs.

Editorial and Version Note

This guide describes the documented workflow and links to community repositories; it does not mirror third-party blueprint strings. Community builds remain credited to their authors and should be retested after every gameplay update.

Blueprint FAQ

How do I flip a copied structure?
The publisher-maintained Steam FAQ documents Ctrl+H for flipping a copied structure.
Can a blueprint string break after an update?
Yes. Buildings, serialization and physics can change during Early Access. Import in a test area and verify every configured component.
Does this wiki host community blueprint strings?
No. It links to the original library or author so credit, updates and compatibility notes stay attached.

Blueprint the smallest stable unit

A compact module with one job, visible inputs and a tested return path is easier to debug and tile than a copy of the entire factory.
