Planter Box Guide

Quick answer: the machine players search as "planter" is officially the Planter Box — "used to turn Wet Seeds into Flowers." Every Flower it grows carries 1 Gold and 4 Amethelis in its head, making it the farming end of the gold loop.

What It Is and What It Costs

The Planter Box unlocks in Research Tier 3 for 2,000 Gold, described as growing "various crops" — Wet Seeds grow into Flowers that yield Gold and Amethelis when harvested.

Its core behavior is one sentence on the official wiki: "When a Wet Seed touches a Planter Box it will grow into a Flower." Unusually for a machine, it does not block liquids or gases — only the player.

The Tricky Part: Making Wet Seeds

"Wet Seeds are created by combining Seeds with Water" — your Seeds come from the Kinetic Press stage of the gold loop. The catch is physics: "Unlike dry Seeds, Wet Seeds are the same density as Water, meaning they can remain suspended in the water instead of sinking. This can make effective Wet Seed production a difficult challenge."

Two properties help you handle them. Wet Seeds are less dense than dry Seeds, so a mixed pile separates naturally. And they are launchable (density 100, Slushy), so Launchers can deliver them onto the boxes.

Harvesting Flowers

"Each Flower is made up of a stem of Vine and a head of 4 Amethelis and 1 Gold." Flowers are "destructible by weapons or Fire to drop Gold and Amethelis" — burn them or shoot them, then collect.

The machine itself does the sorting: "The only solid pixels that can pass through the Planter Box are Gold and Amethelis." Harvested output falls through the box while everything else stays out.

A small UI quirk from the wiki: hovering over a plant's head before destroying it shows only "?" as the tooltip — that is normal.

What We Cannot Confirm Yet

  • Growth time per Flower and whether multiple Wet Seeds queue on one box — no official numbers (unverified).
  • Placement cost of the box itself beyond the research unlock (unverified).
  • Automated end-to-end farm layouts — the wiki documents the pieces, not a full build; our in-game capture is planned.

Fire is a harvester

Flowers are burnable and their Gold and Amethelis fall through the box on destruction. A controlled ignition over a Planter Box row — the same trick as the Residue auto-burner — turns harvesting into a hands-off step.
