Research Data
The Flashlight is a Tier 2 utility tool unlocked for 600 Gold. While held, it projects a cone of light toward the cursor and can illuminate visible spaces through walls.
The official Research page is marked work in progress. These facts reflect the version checked August 24, 2026 and may change with game updates.
Flashlight: Confirmed Function
Cursor movement rotates the light cone, making the tool a continuous directional light rather than a placed structure or fired projectile. The light can pass through walls, but the Research entry explicitly says it does not reveal areas that have not yet been discovered.
Setup and Production Role
Equip it while inspecting an already discovered cavern, then sweep the cursor across walls, machinery and liquid chambers to improve contrast before digging or repairing. Use the Flare Gun for a persistent distant marker; the Flashlight remains attached to the player's current aim.
Limits and Verification
The Flashlight is explicitly not upgradable. No official value is available for cone angle, maximum distance, brightness, power use or the precise visibility rule through different wall thicknesses, and it must not be described as a way to uncover unexplored map regions.
