Russian Language Support

Straight answer: yes — Sandustry officially supports Russian. The Steam store lists Russian with Interface ✔ and Subtitles ✔ among the game's 23 languages. No language has Full Audio, so the absence of Russian voice-over is not a Russian-specific limitation.

One freshness note: the v0.5.3 hotfix mentioned "translations pending" for newly added objective text — localization is still catching up to new content during Early Access.

Switch the Game Language via Steam (Official Steps)

  • 1. Open your Steam Library.
  • 2. Right-click Sandustry and select Properties…
  • 3. Go to the Language tab.
  • 4. Select Russian (Русский) from the drop-down menu.
  • 5. Steam may download language files before you can play.

These are Valve's official per-game steps. Valve adds: "If you are experiencing problems enabling a language, make sure your desired language is selected in both locations" — meaning the game property AND the client setting below.

Or Switch the Whole Steam Client

The client-wide route: Steam menu → Settings (Preferences on macOS) → Interface tab → pick the language → OK and restart Steam. Per Valve, this setting "determines which language the Steam client application displays, as well as the language which games are presented in."

Valve's caveat applies: "Third-party titles may have their own language settings — these settings will generally be independent of the Steam language setting."

In-Game Language Menu

Whether Sandustry exposes its own in-game language selector — and its exact menu path — has no first-party source yet (unverified — pending in-game confirmation; this page will be updated once checked).

A footnote for completeness: the hidden debug mode includes a Ctrl+Alt+Shift+K shortcut that "cycles the interface language, a localisation testing shortcut." Debug mode is unsupported by the developers, so this is documentation, not a recommended method.

Set it in both places

If the game stubbornly stays in English, Valve's own advice is the fix: set Russian in the game's Properties → Language tab AND check your Steam client language, then let Steam download the language files.
